Description: Nonfunctional recycling is a major cause for the loss of alloying elements in the economic cycle; elements such as nickel, chromium, tungsten and niobium as well as precious metals such as silver, gold and PGM. There are reasons that confirm the lack of knowledge about the composition and the metal-rich waste substances and the resulting unsuitable processing and recovery processes. With the ARGOS Real Time Analysis System, systems should be developed and checked for the characterization of metal-rich processing products. ARGOS is based on a combination of a sensor-based particle characterization, mathematical derivations, and empirically well-known properties of material flows. The characterization is based on specifications and information needs of downstream processes (ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy). Metal losses can be significantly reduced along with the value chain through specification of qualities as well as rapid detection of changes in quality, but also through the following points: a) better data sorting of material flow, b) technical adjustment on processing techniques c) input specification adapted to the process control system in the ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy. |
